Terms of Use
The short version: ioths is a tool for your notes. You own your data. We are not liable for data loss. The app is provided as-is.
Who we are
ioths is an iOS note-taking app built and operated by an independent developer. References to "we", "us", or "our" in these terms mean the developer of ioths.
Acceptance
By downloading or using ioths you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not use the app.
Licence
We grant you a personal, non-transferable, non-exclusive licence to use ioths on any Apple device you own or control, subject to these terms and the App Store terms of service.
Your content
You own everything you write in ioths. We claim no rights over your notes, attachments, or any other content you create. You are solely responsible for the content you store and for complying with applicable laws.
No warranty โ data loss disclaimer
ioths is provided "as is" and "as available" without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, or non-infringement.
We do not guarantee that:
- The app will be free of errors or available without interruption
- Your notes will be preserved in the event of device failure, software defect, accidental deletion, or sync error
- Data written to an external folder or a GitHub repository will be free from corruption or loss
You are solely responsible for maintaining independent backups of any notes or data you consider important. Enabling an external folder or GitHub sync does not substitute for a personal backup strategy.
In-app purchases
Full Unlock is a one-time in-app purchase, not a subscription. It unlocks external Files-provider folders, GitHub storage and sync, and portable local-vault export. The purchase is processed by Apple through the App Store. Refunds are governed by applicable law and Apple's refund policy; we cannot issue refunds directly.
A purchase unlocks these features for the Apple ID used to buy it and may be restored on other devices signed into the same Apple ID at no additional charge.
GitHub sync limits
GitHub sync supports one selected repository, one existing unprotected branch, and one dedicated ioths Library path. It requires direct read/write access to repository contents. Protected branches, required pull requests or status checks, merge queues, signed commits, read-only repositories, arbitrary Git workflows, and multi-branch sync are not supported.
Only supported ioths Markdown notes and attachments are synchronized. Unsupported or malformed files inside the Library path may block pull or restore. GitHub credentials can expire, be revoked, or lose repository access; ioths provides a reconnect path that keeps local notes on the device.
Third-party services
When you enable sync, your notes are written to services you control โ a folder belonging to a Files provider you select (for example an iCloud Drive or Obsidian vault folder), or a GitHub repository under your GitHub account. Those services are governed by their providers' own terms. We are not responsible for their availability, reliability, or policies.
Trademarks
ioths names services such as Apple, iCloud, Obsidian, GitHub, TelemetryDeck, and Cloudflare only to identify optional integrations. Those names and logos are trademarks of their respective owners. ioths is independent and is not endorsed by, sponsored by, or affiliated with any of them.
Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, including but not limited to loss of data, loss of profits, or loss of goodwill, arising from your use of or inability to use ioths.
Our total liability to you for any claim arising from your use of ioths shall not exceed the amount you paid for the app or any in-app purchase giving rise to the claim.
Acceptable use
You may not use ioths to store or distribute content that is unlawful, abusive, or infringes the rights of others. We have no ability to monitor note content and no obligation to do so, but we reserve the right to withdraw the app from distribution if required by law.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Netherlands, without regard to conflict-of-law principles. Any dispute that cannot be resolved informally shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of the Netherlands.
Changes to these terms
If we make material changes, we will update the effective date at the top of this page and, where appropriate, note the change in the app's release notes. Continued use of the app after a change constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.
